My Mother's Bests Friend's Mondel Brodt
MONDEL BROT
1 cup of sugar
1 bar of sweet butter
2 eggs
2 teas. vanilla
2 Cups Flour * (be sure to mix with baking powder before adding)
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 Cup of chopped nuts and
1 Cup of choc. bits, semi-sweet
Cream sugar & butter together.
Add eggs & vanilla and mix until well blended
Combine flour w/baking powder SIFT, and then add to mixture .
Do not over mix .
Then mix in nuts and choc bits .
Dough will be somewhat sticky as you form 3 logs
I wet my hands--even better--chill. The logs won' spread too much in the oven)
Bake at 350 until golden brown on top. Remove from oven, cut into slices, turn over, and then bake for another 10 mins. Bake on lightly greased cookie sheet....
I often leave out nuts, chips & vanilla and make with anise into something more resembling biscotti.
